In a tight race for offensive player of the month, McGuiggan got the nod over teammate Chris Egan by one vote. The Cougars tough October schedule played a roll in their 2-2 record. Throughout the games, Old Colony has looked towards their leader, junior captain Matt McGuiggan when times got tough, and he performed. Through the air, McGuiggan completed 19 out of his 40 attempts for 265 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. McGuiggan posted a 48% completion percentage, with a quarterback rating of 65.1, which for lower ranked high schools is good. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH:
Chris Egan
Junior Chris Egan chases down UCT QB Davonte Green for a sack on homecoming
During the month of October, Egan notched 2 sacks for the Cougars and a number of tackles for loss. His presence was felt off the edge. his strength allows him to break off the edge of offensive tackles and cause disruptions in the backfield. His speed allows him to get chase down tackles. The threat of him off the edge creates opportunities for the rest of the defense to make plays happen. I played alongside him at defensive end my junior and senior years of high school. Chris is a very coachable player that benefits from the success of teammates, which motivates him to play at such a high level every game.
HM: Joe Rubini: 2 Forced Fumbles: 1.5 sacks
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE MONTH:
Jacob Legault
Legault sprints to his spot
Serving as the team's kick returner, senior Jacob Legault has shown poise on his kickoff returns. He is a threat to break off a big return, and don't be surprised if soon he brings one to the house. The shifty returner is a hockey player who made the transition to football his sophomore year. He is a threat on all phases of football. He has the ability to make big plays. He is a determined, hard working player who is a key part of the Cougars success this season.
MOST IMPROVED:

Mike Willwerth & Brody Darling
Brody Darling (Left) and Mike Willwerth (Right) were key players for the Cougars in practice

These young guns show up every week having to learn a complete new playbook for the teams they play. As voted on by their teammates, these are the scout players of the month:
Darling: Brody is an sophomore offensive lineman and defensive lineman for the Cougars. He has given great looks on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. His strength plays a big role in preparing the varsity team for their games on Friday nights. He serves a roll on the varsity team's special teams as well. The hard work by Brody wears off on his fellow teammates. He is a native of Lakeville, MA and grew up playing for the Apponequet Warriors. Brody is in the automotive shop at Old Colony.
Willwerth: Mike is a junior running back and linebacker for the Cougars. He is versatile and knows exactly what he's supposed to do at any given moment. His teammates grow with him as he gives great looks week after week and allows them to prepare perfectly for Friday nights. Willwerth has seen varsity time this year at both running back, linebacker and special teams as well. He is a soft spoken, respectful person who will have his teammates' back when they need him.
