Cougars Back In Action

Old Colony was back in action Saturday in the annual Nauset High School Scrimmage


EASTHAM,MA -

The Cougars were playing another team for the first time since their 36-12 victory over Diman in the Fall II season finale. This time though, it was at their annual scrimmage at Nauset High School. This year, they competed against Monomoy High (Harwich, MA) and Nauset High (Eastham, MA).

The scrimmaged opened up with the projected starters of both Old Colony and Nauset battling it out. Both teams had their ups and downs, but the overall goal for all teams here was to get better.

Old Colony's offense picked up where they left off. Notable plays during the scrimmage included, Junior Quarterback Matt McGuiggan connecting with Chris Egan on a 29 yard pass for a touchdown. RB Ryan Silva rushed for a touchdown as well as G/FB Raymond Thibault. WR Jacob Legault had a great catch at the beginning of the scrimmage. Sophomore WR Shawn Markham scored a touchdown along with a few catches throughout the day.Overall throughout the day, the Cougars offense were on point and look poised for a big season.

The Cougars defense had its bright spots throughout the day. Good plays by the Cougars' secondary prevented a few big plays by Monomoy and Nauset. The box six of Old Colony played well as well. Notable players on the defense was LB/DE Joe Rubini, SS Pat Quin, and DE Chris Egan.

Overall, the Cougars had their ups and downs, but they'll use this scrimmage as a point they can build off of for the rest of their season.


What's next: Old Colony will participate in the 4th annual Andrew McCann Football Jamboree located at Greater New Bedford Voke. The Cougars will be squaring off against the Bourne Canalmen. Old Colony previously played Fairhaven High School in the jamboree.
